Remember the Magic Eraser Emails?

Okay, don't laugh too hard. Do you remember the scary emails that went around 2 years ago, warning that Magic Erasers can cause a chemical burn? Well, let's just say the emails were right. Ryan colored all over herself with permanent marker and Tom and I thought we were so smart to use the Magic Eraser. It was Magic allright! It removed the marker istantly, but as an hour passed, Ryan developed a burn on her forehead and hands. I called the pediatrician who confirmed that it was a mild burn! Oh my gosh! Poor baby! Another parenting award for Stolk's!

Lauren's Solar System

We were hard pressed to think up a creative idea for Lauren's solar system model this year. Evan had done a mini Christmas tree with glass ornaments that he painted to look like planets. Lauren decided to make yarn pom poms to look like planets and attach them to a scarf and hat. Maybe we'll just save this one for Ryan. Do you think the teachers will remember?

Birdie Sling

Spent the afternoon making the cutest bag ever--The Birdie Sling by Amy Butler. I made one last week out of two of her Midwest Modern fabrics, but decided I'm not cool enough to wear it. I'd have to go out and buy a whole bunch of new clothes to get away with that one! So, I HAD to make another--this time in brown corduroy and lined in a brown/yellow print. Much more my style. Can't wait to use it!

After so much complaining about getting my garden started this spring, I thought I'd let you know that it WORKED! I was so afraid that after all my work, nothing would grow. Well, not everything grew well, but I did have success with a few things and we have enjoyed many dinners with sauteed snap peas, lettuce for salad, cooked carrots my kids actually liked, green beans, more basil than I know what to do with, cucumbers, onions and a few tomatoes. My tomatillo plant is huge, but no tomatillos yet. Hmmm..... Anyone know about tomatillos?
